fishing hook through stomach

my male motoro witch i have had for months had a fishing hook sticking out of his belly it punctured through his bottom and me and my dad took him out and romeoved it it came out with no struggle or tug just kinda slid out, i will post a pic of the hook soon but i am wondering my stingray has been looking a little thin lately and can this permanently damage him to the point were he cant digest or eat since it went through something and came out through his belly, can they recover from that im worried now feel free to ask any details i will answer, thanks

add some salt to the tank maybe some mela and pima fix as well.... maybe switch back to worms black or nightcrawlers to get it eating good and fatten it up...

I would monitor his eating habits and see that he is eating. If he is eating, I would not worry. Just keep checking his belly for signs of infection from the puncture. Do extra water changes and keep heat a little higher. 82-84F

he eats a mix of foods but now it will be only earthworms fed massivore pellets
what kind of salt marine salt?

kosher salt.... if the ray is eating a variety of foods dont feed it nothing but worms.... just keep feeding it....

aquarium salt... most pet stores have it, its different then marinie salt

alright im going to turn the temperature up and he is eating im just not sure if the worms will find there way out of this hole

feed the ray what it normally ate.... kosher salt is alot cheaper than aquarium salt and supermarket will have it.... i get a 3 pound box of morton kosher salt for about 2 bucks...

alright i have kosher salt i will add the recomended amount but would rays be more sensitive since they are sensitive to chems
