Hey Larry, you come to Florida and look my buddy up (Jersey Jack Bass Service) and he'll definatley
take you out on his boat - or out for a 15 lake walk around.

What type of sunfish is that? I have never seen that type only green sunfish and dollar sunfish .

i thought of it because a few years back some friends and i decided to go fishing in a small man made pond in an office park by my house and we ended up catching a few nice bass. as the years have gone by ive noticed that it has gotten harder and harder to catch a fish there, when we first started the fish practically jumped unto our hooks, but now we are lucky if we catch 1 fish the whole day. its almost like they have gotten smart. the only fish we ever took from the pond were about a dozen juvenile bluegill and three lmb fingerlings for my tanks so its not like we are reducing the fish numbers

lol yes fish aren't stupid.
I wasted many hours dangling every bait you can think of in front of large Oscars in heavily fished canals till wisened up and moved to canals that are rarely if ever fished in order to catch them.

"when we first started the fish practically jumped unto our hooks"

Those are the best places and I have found them but its only Miyans and talipia which I dont want to catch.

They can be very agressive, plus I dont have the space for a pair. I had plenty of pikes in the past(10+). I was a impluse buyer. What I have learned through that phase was that when you OVER CROWD none of the fish seem to feel comfortable to bully everone but when you drop down the number of fish in the tank they feel comfortable and become very territorial and start to fight for the remaining space. I was down to two fish left in my 90g, it was just a 4-5" RTM and the cobra pike. I had to get rid of the RTM cause she was stressing out the cobra and cobra pikes only seem to be available one time of the year. If I had the space I might beable to to have a pair. Im hoping when this female cobra pike is full grown she will turn red!! Thats why I down to one fish cause Ive had alot of fish but I never grow them to adult hood.

Just explaining alittle of what I learned from being in the hobby about two years now.

I keep cichlids but only firemouths and jewels outside in 120 gallon pvc ponds .
Never saw a pike cichlid imagine not common and pricey as the fish farms in area dont have them. They carry reg bread and butter cichlids .

I don't know if your into fish clubs but NJ has a great fish club I went to fish auction there 5 yrs back . I think Brooklyn is biggest fish club in USA with NJ second biggest .

Pike Cichlids are out there you just have to dig a bit. I saw some in a Petsmart in Orlando (special one time thing:() and a lfs there had several over the course of a few months.

Here's a look at some of the obstacles we face when walking lakes. Note that this was inside a
popular State Park, they call these things low dams or dikes. This particular one is crumbling
and anyone could have just stepped right in this hole.

Those snakes look harmless lol, I went out yesterday and today (it was back in the 80s down here these last few days), we nabbed a few flounder, and I got my first red drum, he was in slot at about 20" and a few pounds nothing huge, but it was one of the most beautiful fish I have seen.

Caught My first lake trout today, about time. To bad it was a male but oh well taste the same.
