I'm game for first bass of the year. But I do ice fish. Last years first came Jan. 18th.

I just assumed in NJ for most part Feb still mostly frozen waters.

It is but in Feb you start to get some days when certain waters will unthaw. Its this one spot I go to that I try to be the first person to cast in and for the past two years its been decent size bass seating by the same tree.

Its the same spot from the first post of this thread that was started on 2-28 but the fish was caught on 2-27.

In 08" the first fish was landed on 2-08.

nice slideshow you caught some nice fish this year.

ill definitly keep a tally for numbers in 2010. Im a pan-man myself so we know the crappie, bluegill, and perch will be up there.

we've been trying for crappie lately, everyone else is catching them but us. we got skunked last time, and i called it quits for the season. A trip to bass pro shop and a decent day got me back out there. I put a catfish rod out with worms for kicks and got to crappie fishing, after no hits and the wind picking up i decided we'd check the bait on the catfish rod. This 3.5lb channel was sitting there with it and i snagged his lip as i reeled in. No crappies but i caught something. We get snow sometime this weekend i think, so this might be it.
