FISHING SEASON 2K11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The michigan drought continues. As winter drags on and even with that little warm up the main major SW MI river still remains way under normal and clear as can be. Conditions could not be worse for steelhead and walleye fishing. I really would like to not resort to using live bait and Flouro. lines if I dont have to. The river has been low all year we had a little rise last spring but no where near what it should have been. :irked:

So no first steelhead of the year yet. :(

I use braid for everything!

I meant the color of the line? Is there any specific purpose that those colors fulfill? Haven't brushed up on all of the line colors and what application they are used in.

Well, I went January 1st at 6am, had one strike and missed it out of impatience. But that's okay, later this month I'm getting my nicest reel to date, the Johnny Morris Gold Series from BPS, and soon, the bass will stand no chance ;)

Highlights of last year were a 5lb 10oz largemouth and 20" flounder approx 3lbs

Goals for 2010: 6lb+ bass, 5lb+ flounder

It has nothing to do with color. Braid is just a superline stronger then mono or other types of line. Basic braid color is moss green. Fish can see it and when fishing super clear water I wouldnt use it. Its main purpose is in power fishing and trolling, which the fish hits out of reaction and is not paying great attention to the line. But when slow fishing with plastics and other baits I would not recomend using it.

Braid also floats so it is a great line to use when float/centerpin fishing. Also a good line for topwater baits.

colour is not all that important every manufacture produces different colours
i have been using the tracer braid this last year it alternates neon green and dark green every 2.5 feet, i think its great they say the dark tip for tying to the lure and the bright green makes it a lot easier to see your line. my only problem is that the dark patches fade and makes it a uniform colour.

i think braided lines are great for everything they are super strong, have almost no memory, spool nice, are thin, cast far and have no stretch great for feeling light bits and getting good hook sets. i do almost always use a fluorocarbon tip to get the best of both

The local lake i fish is crystal clear to the point i can see 10 feet down and i still use braid. And my main method is finesse fishing so i really dont think its the braid thats the problem.

I'm hoping to catch my first 4feet Northern Pike this year. Last years biggest was 34inch. But i'm pretty sure I have hooked a 4footer twice last season. Record so far is 41inch.

I only use braided line when fresh water fishing, Only way too go POWER PRO!

Power pro gets the job done but it seems to fray alot easier then "Suffix". Making it the best braid(suffix) on the market Jeff !

Also on the other topic of finess fishing with braid. I believe the fish do see it alittle better but I'm not sure if I catch less cause of it. I throw dingers finess style with braid and I catch plenty !
