  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Kevin...Pics or it didnt happen!!!!!!

Flemming, thanks for clarifying. Interesting that you have native perch over there that are so similar to our yellow perch. Your Xander is very similar to our walleye and we both have native northern pike. I wonder if there is much regional variation in our pikes.

Hi Flemming,

nice little pikes, except for the big one, thats really a beauty !! Very interesting colouration, never seen it like that on pictures, really an extraordinary fish !!

The dutch channels occur very often in german anglers magazines were man like Jan Eggers show us how to catch the real monsters. You live in a blessed country !!

Good luck or the future fishing trips !

@Josh North American fish and Western European fish indeed have a lot in common, and we also have many american species in our waterways like sunfish and bullhead.
They have tried to introduce LMB but that didn't work out,LMB needs a temperature over 17degrees celsius to start breeding. In the US this happens around spring, but in The Netherlands this happens in the late summer.
The yellow perch indeed looks a lot like the european perch and they both grow to about the same size.
What we need in my state are catfish, like your blues, channels and flatty's.
Wells Catfish can be found here, but are really rare.
Last year there were only 7 recorded catches of wells catfish in the entire state.

@Brucki: Thank you!
Many tourists that come to fish in my homewaters are Germans, probably eager to catch a pike bigger then the one they have seen in the Angler Magazines.

When fishermen from MFK come to The Netherlands and are willing to catch pike they should send me a message.
Can't guarantee monsters but can guarantee pikes.

What's goodie fellas ?!

I have an update from Sunday, it was a slow day but I managed a 2.8 on the little trick I learned from the old timer I mentioned in my last update, also the pike are biting at farrington. We witnessed a kayaker land three small ones in the 2-3 pound range. Im going to try and post pics before the weekend is over......

Nice work cf! Seems like your bass have been off up there a little bit. Better get after those pike.

Busy day. Caught some nice mangrove snappers and a ton of grunts. Cut up a big pinfish and threw him out on my cat rod. Silly me and no wire leader had a shark cut my line right off. I guess I should have expected it but was hoping it wouldn't break the 50 lb mono. Went back to my campground on a lagoon and proceeded to catch a dozen little 12-20" tarpon on jigs and 4 lb line on my bait rod. That was more fun than anything I've done yet. Crazy runs and jumps.

Landed 4 snakeheads today with the biggest going over 3 lbs. Seriously lost about 15 others. Solid hits, sometimes hookset would pull it out of their mouths, sometimes they wrap me around lillies, sometimes dive under floating mats and get off and sometimes come off for no reason at all (good set and fighting, then poof) every one I felt te fish. Should have landed 20. Pics later in week.

Hi,

angling snakeheads is blasphemic (<--- just kidding)

Really looking forwartd to the pics, where did you catch them and how ?
