@Josh North American fish and Western European fish indeed have a lot in common,and we also have many american species in our waterways like sunfish and bullhead.
They have tried to introduce LMB but that didn't work out,LMB needs a temperature over 17degrees celsius to start breeding. In the US this happens around spring,but in The Netherlands this happens in the late summer.
The yellow perch indeed looks a lot like the european perch and they both grow to about the same size.
What we need in my state are catfish,like your blues,channels and flatty's.
Wells Catfish can be found here,but are really rare.
Last year there were only 7 recorded catches of wells catfish in the entire state.
@Brucki: Thank you!
Many tourists that come to fish in my homewaters are Germans,probably eager to catch a pike bigger then the one they have seen in the Angler Magazines.
When fishermen from MFK come to The Netherlands and are willing to catch pike they should send me a message.
Can't guarantee monsters but can guarantee pikes.
