FISHING SEASON 2K12!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
picking up another Tangling with Catfish Extreme tomorrow. Dreams, you got to try these out.

I acutally decided to get those over the tiger ugly sticks i was looking at. They're pretty heavy right? could handle an 8oz+ sinker and a 50+lb blue?

i love my shakespeares for channels/flat cause theyre so sensitive and flexible but i hate using them down on the potomac, not strong enough

They are rated to 12 oz so you will have no trouble at all. It was also designed as an "all around rod" Heavy duty for the big ones but still sensitive enough for the light bite and channels. Seems a bit stiff for small fish, but I suppose I'll see soon.

Never used a catmaxx. The TWC is cheaper and has stainless steel eyes. I am unlikely to buy any cat rod anymore that doesnt have one piece eyes and preferably cork handles. Same goes for being 1 piece, its now a must. I like my r2 but I dont like the detachable handle and the gimbal butt with rubber cap, but I do like the action better.

If you like that catmaxx, take it to a rod repair shop and have them redo they eyes and put stainless on them if you dont want to worry about the inserts. I've never had it happen on my Ugly stiks but I would be pretty aggravated especially at the price of their CatMaxx.

i cant even imagine having a rod that stiff. catfish around here just aren't big enough to justify it without a boat! 10lbers are rare where i fish

there are some nice rivers and reservoirs in NC from my understanding with monster blue cats. They are around you, just have to know where to look. I am really starting to like the stiffer rods a bit more. The average size I catch is around 10 lbs, with the possibility of landing a 30+ anywhere I go and depending on the place 50# and up! I also tend to fish snaggy areas and really want to move that fish instead of bending the rod in half.

yeah i mean they're there but most of the time shore fishing doesn't produce the bigguns!

Went out yesterday for a couple hours. No hits still, but the action should start soon, early march is when the fish start spawning by me.
