FISHING SEASON 2K12!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Got out on some nice fish today with a friend, got my girlfriend on a nice spanish and caught a couple myself along with a nice albacore. We caught nearly 20 different species of fish on the day, only thing we kept though was the 3 biggest spanish and our amazing 1 fish limit per person of gray trout (weakfish). Heartbreaker though, I lost the spanish of a life time. Damn thing was every bit of 8lbs+, biggest spanish i've ever seen... He was still green and I knew it but I got him up next to the boat, tried to reach down and grab him by the tail, as I made contact with him he made one last torpedo towards the bottom.. I felt his tail come out of my grip as the line snapped against the side of the boat..... heartbreaking. Fish of a lifetime literally in my fingertips, gone. Still a fun trip today and got some nice spanish and trout in the box! (didnt take pics of the trout, 13-14" range keepers but nothing special)

We are gonna go try our luck in Lafiite, La for some night fishing tonight, but the charts down here for next 3 days in Southeast Louisiana look amazing. Might have to get in multiple trips the next 3 or 4 days...

Fished a kayak king mackerel tournament yesterday.

I ended up catching eleven kings but just couldnt find any with any size to them. I ended up getting the third biggest king at only eleven pounds. Of course, this tournament only paid out first and second.

It was still a pretty good day. Besides the eleven kings, I caught two bonita, three or four big red snapper, a small cobia, a shark and my first keeper grouper from a kayak. I weighed the grouper at the tournament for fun and it was just under eight pounds at twenty four and a half inches long. I also found a new bottom spot. whoo hoo.

hate those tournaments. We did a catfish one on the susquehanna river in June 2011. It was a hard night of rain, wind, and thunderstorms and alot of people didnt even show up. We had trouble finding fish. 12 hours of this (7pm to 7am). Our big fish was only 7lbs with a pair of dinks to back it up didnt leave me feeling very confident. We get to weigh in and 2 teams didnt even have fish to weigh in. Hot damn! sure enough the last team to weigh in beats us out of 2nd by .55 lbs. What a joke haha. http://thecatfishnation.com/md2011/June11.html

Fished Saturday Night for a few hours. Windy without much action, caught a small flathead and a channel around 6lbs.

I went sunday night as well as we hit the worst cold front of the year. Tried to put the boat in my favorite river and its was too flooded and couldnt even get my boat upstream with the troller. fail. could fish the hole i wanted unless I used about 14 oz to hold. fail. Went over to a dam and got skunked and frozen. another fail. Leave for florida on thursday night and hope to find some good bass. May try one more time for flatheads on the 17th. may not. water cooling off fast. Post spawn produced 5 or 6 fish for me this year and prespawn nearly 20. Terrible year filled with small fish during the drought!

i feel your pain JD, you had a bad flatty year i had a bad bass year

I had a good catfish year :)

I did fine on channels this year. I can catch 1000's of those if I wanted to, its just that I target flatheads and it wasnt the best year for those since the rivers that I fish are tributaries and not as many nice fish migrated up stream due to low water this spring and summer.
