thats typically why I dont fish for them that much. While some can be monsters and its pretty fun when they are on fire but it doesnt present that much of a challenge in my opinion. Every pond, lake, creek, river holds channels and they can be caught most anywhere. The trophy blues and flats have to be located in specific habitats and is more of a "hunt".

Hoping to finally break the 10 pound mark in Florida this year. reports from last month had the lake in bad shape with few fishable areas due to overgrowth of hydrilla and all of the normal areas unfishable. Should be an adventure at least.

I havent been out in my yak much since I bought a boat this year but went out last weekend and caught some fish. Biggest was this guy, caught on a Huddleston, prob about 5lbs.

I feel that Josh. I caught more channels over 8lbs in the spring than i did all of last year. That warm winter was nice and they fired up early. Even got some spring rockfish and flatheads that im not using to seeing. Could buy a bite all summer and now its cold outside. The flatheads will shut down fast this year and i feel like ive already missed them coming back down the river to the deeper water even though i fished the **** out of them. The discharge will get hot soon though, once the main river hits 60ish they start to move in there and can be caught pretty consistantly until late november. Then its hit or miss because its hard to find decent bait. Id like to hit the potomac for bluecats here in a few weeks too. Once the water hits 55 its supposed to be game on.
