Yesterday my pops and I hit the Gulf again in the Morning. The surf wasnt bad but the strong NE wind produced some rough water once out passed the second bar. We trolled around for maybe fifteen minutes and boated a king a a piece. I knew the bite would be on fire but the water was getting too rough, when your fishing partner disappears between waves and he doesnt have much yaking experience, its time to call it a day.
I decide to head back to the house, put up our offshore gear and grab our inshore stuff. We hit the flats with popping corks and shrimp and bull minnow and catch speck after speck with a few rat reds mixed in. I wish we had waited out the Gulf because the wind swung around to the SE and the big swells laid down and from what I heard the King bite was epic.
Oh well, kings offshore and specks and reds inshore in the span of a few hours is still a good day I suppose.
