FISHING SEASON 2K12!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i got out late on the lake today but it was a great day fished from 1:30-5:00 and landed 12 bass, 3 bream and snagged a HUGE grass carp by the tail...I had no idea they were even in the lake so i was really suprised when my little spinning rod with 15lb braid on it suddenly started having its line striped off at an alarming rate..lol...it made several jumps and was a really fun fight but every time i'd get it to the boat it would make another long run, i battled it for 45minutes to an hour before the hook came loose from its tail....I used a 1/4 oz rooster tail all day, the bream were a little bigger than hand size and the bass ranged from 12-17 inches, the carp looked to be between 3-4 feet....no camera today cause i was alone but going in the morning early with my daughter so ill be sure to get pics to load up....any tips on hooking those big grass carp would be nice.

yesterday was a long long long day. Fished from 9:30 am till about 8 pm, wanted to stay but the wind and rain were coming.
first stop was a stop on the channel right outside the marina. we fished the edge running from about 20 ft to 30ft from left to right behind the boat. We managed one channel catfish about 3lbs. The water temp was 58.5

second stop was further up the channel outside of the mouth of broad creek. Theres a huge rock here that stops right at the edge of the water, and it around 20 ft deep. we caught 5 or 6 channel cats here, nothing more than 4lbs. this is closer to the discharge and temp was 59.8

third stop was a new place for us, this is were the discharge really starts to cool off. Lots of humps and depths ranging for 7 to 20 feet. We fished a smaller hump running from about 13 to 17 ft. Caught some channels again, no big ones but i have high expectations for this area, gonna try later in the year when the flats start to really spread out. was temp was 63

Fourth and final stop was the acutally discharge, we hopped around a few times, and managed to catch more channels then you can count, biggest 2 at 8.37(mine) and 6.43(dads). I got 2 flatheads, both around 5 lbs. Dad got a nice 20" walleye, and we even caught our first hybrid bass. Water temp was a nice 69.2 degrees

Really would have liked to get some thing bigger, but they just were responding to the big baits. Both flats were caught on cutbluegill. bigger channels came on cut chub/hornyheads.

No monsters but you guys got on some nice fish!!! Water temps are high 50's around here again, down from 60. Weather is warming up again and this time its supposed to stick, so Ill be getting out as much as I can starting second week of May probably. That darn baby has been keeping us awake too much ;) Cant wait to just go sit at the river, set my rods out and fall asleep til my bait alarm goes off!!

You still going to order the TWC's and some new reels?

Nice Catches Dreams.

we did okay, it was coming off a cold front (water temp started about 60 degrees) so the bite was really soft. i got a 3 a 2 and a 1.5 in the boat, lost another pair of 2lbers and a 4lber right at the boat on jumps and missed at least a dozen other bites. the timing was tough because a lot of fish were just picking it up off the beds (the bigguns have spawned its the second round of smaller ones out there now) i gotta get that corrected but it was fun, mike landed 7 with the biggest being a 4lber with a 3lber two 2s and 3 in the 1-1.5 range - he did lose one hoss of a bass at the boat that easily went 7.5-8.5lbs. good day, fairly slow but we had a lot of fun, no pics as of now for some reason my phone isnt sending em to facebook the right way.

NC - glad ya had better luck this time out. Little bass are scrappy and great fighters.

I snuck in an hour of fishing and managed 3 channels, the biggest at 5 pounds and one carp at 6 pounds. Sick of small fish in that lake. Great for shad and bullheads (in the summer). Fishing the river Sunday night. High of 88. Warm weather comes back tomorrow so the river should be back up to mid 60's come Thursday and get our flatheads a bit more active. Trying a new spot with one of my buddies.
