did lose my first gar yesterday in the rain though. got him to the bank made a poor attempt to net a fish far too long to fit in said net because he was't hooked properly. missed and he swam off! 40"+ fish, easily one of the longest freshwater fish i've ever hooked in to

Going to the poconos in pa this weekend. Gonna bring my abu garcia and my tackle box and see where I can fish. Anyone know of anywhere I can fish near the poconos. Im only planning on heading out anywhere for about 1 hour if that. I have been fishing a lot lately, nothing huge though. At dale hollow lake I caught a few 15 incch smallmouth but that wasnt cgood considering everyone else got 18-20 inchers. I fly fished for trout a few times but havent caught anything over 12 inches

A bud of mine arrowed into a 37" bigmouth buffalo last weekend.

I think i know the gar you are talking about. Was it almost black looking?
