Took my friend fishing for the first time... I caught a 4lber early and then we switched from my honeyhole to a local lake to catfish to make sure he caught something.... gave him a beetle spin to use on 6lb test on a light action rod.. all i hear is "I THINK IM HUNG ON SOMETHING" and then i heard the drag scream and my eyes got big. His first ever bass.. over 9lbs... on a beetle spin.... unreal lmao

I'm not surprised. I had about an 11 pounder on a crank bait that broke my line there once. There are a lot of shad in that small lake, which leads to big bass. There are some big channel cats in there too.

i know there's big ones but for him to catch it on a beetle spin was crazy

Yeah that is crazy. Was is white? Maybe the bass thought it was a little shad. Did he catch any crappie on the beetle spin? I'm wondering if the crappie at bond have thought about moving to shallow water yet. I went to Crabtree and caught a lot in the tail race of the dam there.

nope green beetle spin, the water was ridiculously muddy so it probably only shaw the shining of the spinner. no crappie that was the only fish he caught. Definitely should be moving up soon though and there's some really good sized ones in there.. i'd say let this cold spell pass and when it warms back up the morning crappie bite should be solid

looks like a dream trip to me! billfish mahi and rooster fish! awesome
