My PB carp is 7lbs. Since then i haven't encountered any bigger onesIdeally I'm after anything 20lb + These days but they are very nice carp well kept and healthy because there in a club water
I'm sure you'll hook into some double figure fish if you've already had a 7lb'er a lot of waters near me are crammed full of new stockies under 10lb you just have to be persistent and work your way through the smaller ones who are less hook shy to baits eventually a bigger one will make a mistakeMy PB carp is 7lbs. South Africa is generally not the best place for carp. That was when i lived in England. All the carp i have here took sweetcorn, never on my boilies not a single biteI'm sure you'll hook into some double figure fish if you've already had a 7lb'er a lot of waters near me are crammed full of new stockies under 10lb you just have to be persistent and work your way through the smaller ones who are less hook shy to baits eventually a bigger one will make a mistake![]()
Unfortunately maggots are not available here. If i get to a good location again ill try that. They won't touch boilies if there wild very strange concept to them I suppose , try floating bread or dog biscuits on the surface free lined with just a hook , or try threading 20 or so maggots onto some line with a needle and attach it to your hook , can't fail![]()

If you can't get maggots use earthworms the same way , if your confident they take corn you could use two pieces of real corn and a fake pop up piece on a hair rigged hook this works a treat over a bed of mixed particles such as corn , birdseed , chick peas , hemp seed etc
I actually hooked a baber catfish on a piece of sausage on the weekend, but it dug itself into the sand after a few minutes and i was fishing from a narrow spot so i could not unwedge it by pulling from another angle. It felt big too, search the name and youll see.
I might try and go tigerfishing for my 16th next year
