the gill cover is conected to the jaw structure- the lips tear very easily so theres no other way to get a hold of them without dropping the fish
it exspands away from the actual gill organ
were suppossed to kill these fish anyways... we always see them dead on the quinnipiac river (on the river side) where fishermen throw them while trout fishing....
weve gotten fish that we know are the same exact same fish we caught a year ago
the gill plates have scars on the biggest ones because it sometimes tears a 1.2in in this lighter membrane, its fun catchign the same fish 1 year later at almost 5-10 pounds heavier
nice catches. i caught a 35+lb. grass carp last summer but i dont know how to use my scanner. do the carp u guys catch fight? mine didnt. it didnt even flinch slightly. it felt like catching a big log that could swim... slowly.
i fidn the really small and medium fish fight the most - the monster that are fat males dont do anythign but a female full of eggs will fight for her life
