Buy a bottle of Stability, keep it handy for when the fish arrive, match temp and follow the instructions on the bottle. Be done in a few days not a month... If you do it correctly your not putting your fish through anything. I have used it many times and stand by it, especially when you set up a medicated tank or do not have any other established media to use.. ;)

Yup, gotta agree with Justin. Don't waste your time fishless cycling.

BTW, I used to work at wet spot. ;)

I agree with this as well. Seachem Stability has not failed me yet. I've put fish in a brand new tank as quickly as 48 hrs after starting the Stability cycle with zero ill effects.

Cool cause I was thinking of trying it. Sweet I'll order some tetras and some loaches, kuhlis and zebras, so looking forward to having something in them. When I know for sure that the cycle is complete I'm adding some plants

Wet Spot has some pretty decent prices on aquabid and shipping is very reasonable, the LFS I have here sucks and Petsmart wants 4.00 for one tetra! Rip off!

Should I wait on the loaches or do you think they will be ok when I'm using stability?

I would. Check water parameters once a day, or more if you are worried. That's going to cost quite a bit with a 500g though.

Forget fishless. I will NEVER do it again. Stability is amazing. Anyone who bashes it has most likely not tried it or have used it incorrectly.

Just finished cycling 3 tanks in 5 days.

Another vote for Stability!

I used it on my 125, which was set up on 3/26/11.. To the day it has remained stable..
