So after helping my mothers friend move I was gifted a 60G tank that they didn't want.
The dimensions of the tank are 43.3 inches in length, and it's 17.7 inches tall and deep. 43.3X17.7X17.7 Now I want to house as big a pair or single male of fish that I possibly can in this tank, and it's for life.
I have looked at Aequidens Pulcher and Jack Dempsey. I really like the dempsies but I'm unsure if a pair would be happy in the tank for life.
And the Pulcher is really only there since they look like Green Terrors which I know I can't keep in the tank.

Any suggestions for other species I could possibly keep are very appreciated.

Didn't think of Salvinis, I guess I'll look into them.
I could actually house a pair of GT's or a pair of JD's? The LFS told me to not even think about a single GT.

I would not do a GT, would be a bit cramped. JDs get a bit smaller but the length isn't even 4' which is kind of the standard for JDs...granted the extra width is nice.

Also look into a Nic pair - females can get to be a beautiful gold/blue head when spawning and are slightly smaller then the JDs.

I'd have no problem putting a GT in there. But that's me, and I'm sure others here will disagree.

A big GT is 12", and that tank's 18" wide, and 3.5 feet long. I'd say that's absolutely fine.

I like the looks of the salvini, the site I looked them up on stated that minimum tank length was a whooping 6.5 feet though.
However they are bigger than Dempseys, why would they work better than a pair of JDs?
My LFS said a pair of Dempseys would do nicely in a tank that sized.

dempseys, gt's, salvini, grammodes, and lyonsi are all in the same size range in my opinion. Just pick whatever one you like most.
