ya, imho it is considered a slow developer.
at this size it only have very small specs on the 6th level, most proberly it will not cross in the future. (not all xb will have cross when adult)

plus also at this size, the pearlies below the dosal are very little, thus it isnt a very high grade aro..

but it has a nice shape, can tell it is fed well. =)

which farm?

just my opinion, dont flame me..

no worries bro.. imo, all farms will have their fair share of both better quality batches and lousier batches.. no farms have 100% sure good quality fish all the time.
it depends on how the consumer learn and become wiser in chosing a good fish. =)

actually, xbacks are much easier to chose compared to reds.
x-back is pretty laid out already, young that time chose those that got lots of pearlies below the dorsal and complete 5th level development with 6th starting..

whereelse for red, its another story already. haha

bro,

do you have an example of pearlies below the dorsal?
also does some have pearlies on the dorsal fin itself?
I am quite new in Xback, so will like to know more. thanks.

bro go af.com and check out those power xbacks there lar. so many ppl there got.. i will try my best to help u find.

the pearlies are those small golden scales right below the dosal fins, in rtg and low grade xbacks, they cant be found.

whereelse if you want to buy a good grade xbacks. they must have them when small already.

btw, fish isnt mine...

now you do a compare with this fish, and the one you posted. both very differnet size, but this small one already has the pearlies below the dorsal, and complete 5th level development. a good grade xback.
