Five Guys Burgers and Fries

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Five Guys is awesome! Nothing fast food compares except for Good Times, but Five Guys burgers are better...fries about the same. And I love their hotdogs, which I usually don't really care for. Either one I get, I get only w/ cheese (and ketchup on the 'dogs). No In-N-Outs near me and, forgive me, but I didn't get to go to one when I was in Cali...not by choice, but somehow didn't get to go, so I can't compare the two. You can't get this good of a burger at most restaurants for $10, either. I heard mention of expensive and Wendy's, but to get a decent burger at Wendy's (the only one to me is the classic triple), you have to pay like $6 or $7 just for the burger.

I've eaten a whole lot of burgers in my life, and I can say for certain that Five Guys are some of the better chain-store burgers out there. Definitely a big step up from Wendy's, Burger King, et cetera.

They are relatively new out here, but I guess they have been around for a while back East?

I live in New Jersey, but grew up in California and I have tasted IN-N-Out & Five Guys. Five Guys is definitely an In-N-Out burger copycat in appearance. In both, you can watch them make your order fresh, which I like a lot because you don't have to worry about the conditions your food is being prepared in (because you're looking at it). In-N-Out has their own butchers, so the meat has much better flavor than Five Guys, without all the grease. In-N-Out puts their freshly cleaned & cut potatoes in water to take out the starch & sugars so fries don't get that dark brown color(like at Five Guys). In-N-Out associates seem to be more naturally friendly than those at Five Guys (good service at Five Guys though). I will say the cleanliness level at both chains is very good, especially the bathrooms. Overall, I think In-N-Out is better than Five Guys, but...

I live in New Jersey and there are no In-N-Outs here. McDonald's, Wendy's and Burger King definitely do not stand a chance against Five Guys. Although, I probably would tie Five Guys with Carl's Jr (aka Hardee's) not so much on quality, but the flavor of a double western is pretty hard to beat.

Never been there or heard of it, but apparently there is one not too far away (probably a 15 min drive).

Nothing will ever top In-n-Out. It will never be even close either, In-N-Out has by far the best burger I've ever had. I have 1 in my town, and 2 in the bordering cities. They are everywhere here and I couldn't imagine life without it. I think they're moving out east more because some are starting to pop up in Texas.

I guess it's how you order it too. They have a lot of different toppings to go with the burger. I just asked for "everything"...

And yeah...they give you a 5x7 brown paper bag FULL of fries if you ask for large. Ask for a small and it's still practically the same thing, lol!

haha exactly... the first time me and my family went there we ordered four separate frys thinking they were individual portions... we got to big brown bags and one was filled with frys -.- we barely even made a dent in it hahah.

the reason why they dont move far out east is because there are very tight on quality control. plus the business is only family owned.

there are a few here where I live, my friends like it, I've never eaten there, but when my friends tell me they had five guys for lunch, I always say, " leave your personal life at home!"
