i dont know where this species comes from so i just put it here. :grinno: i am planning to put a pair in a 20g for a little while untill i get room in my 75g. :)
will this be alright? how big do they get and if i get tank mates can they be with cinvicts? does anybody know where i can get some?sry for so much questions.lol i wuld be grateful for some info.:popcorn:
 
They are from West Africa. I have seen them on Aquabid... but not recently.. And In my opinion .. Not having anty experience but still my opinion.. You should be able to keep them with a pair of Cons..

But I have no experience with them so.. have fun :)
 
Ya I think the one of the Closest in body form and looks you could get of American Cichlid woudl be Salvini :D

But no one really keeps Five stars or if they do they don't share much so that would be AWESOME!! :)
 
yeah im looking for a pair but nobody really has any wabsites theu know that have them :(

do you mean five spot jewel(hemichromis elongatus)! If so they come from west africa and get to about 7",you will do well to keep a pair together as the males normally kill the females unless in a huge tank! They will kill convicts quite easily as they are one of the most aggressive and powerful(for their size) african cichlids and would do well in a huge tank with tilapia for tankmates,hope this helps:)
 
Those guys can be very nasty.Wouldn't try to put anything with them unless they are in a large tank and the other fish are larger and highly agressive species
