With a tank that big you might as well just stock up on tiger barbs every time you see them on sale. I'd have a massive shoal of them. Maybe 10-12 at the least if it were me.

tiger barbs or tinfoils? I know tiger barbs are fast, but very small whereas the foils can get up to 10"

u could have both

ok, went out today and set up 2 shoals...7 tinfoil barbs and 5 tiger barbs...so far so good...FH interested in chasing them all over the tank...only time will tell if and how quickly the catfish eats his "saviours"

lol, thanks...so far so good. She's calmed down a bit towards the catfish..and I put up a big mirror on kitty fish's side of the tank.

got home from work last night only to hear buzzing coming from the big tank...kitty fish was trying to defend his "kids", the pictus catfish (they buzz when in danger, fighting, etc). My FH was on a bounty hunt for them, and the catfish took more chunks...so....

FH is in a temp home in the 20g, which is in our walkin closet. We made it into a tiny jam room few months ago, and had the old 20g stand we used to store stuff on.

She seems to be the same in it. Colors haven't faded and still comes to the front when I approach the tank...she does have a light on so she's not in complete darkness

i have not had luck mixing fh with any fish unless they are paired up. i had alot of fry and tried to grow some out in my community tank. they were 3- 3.5 inches long and i only put 3 in with my other fish. the other fish were all 8 inches plus. the fry lived in there for a month without any issues, then i started losing my larger fish. they are evil and cannot be trusted for long. i love them though!!!

Just an update. I kicked out my Fh into the temp home little over a month ago. Tonight I reintroduced her in the big tank....went straight back into her bad ways. So...she's back in the 20g until I decide what to do. I really like her and don't want to give her away, but taking care of 4 tanks on top of 3 young kids, and 2 dogs...one of which is diabetic is taking a toll on me. She is absolutely gorgeous and has awesome markings and finnage...

I actually have one Flowerhorn housed with my silver aro and 3 parrots for about 3 months now. Every thing seems fine. All still eating, no sign of stress.

that's great, but I actually have a silver arowana. Def wouldn't trust the FH with the arowana, esp since she beat up my 2 foot catfish many times...and they were together for 1 1/2 yrs
