Yes in theory, but you have to make sure that the new glass is absolutely flush with the old glass. Also, getting a roughly 6' x 2' piece of glass that is 1/2" or thicker into a 6' x 2' hole is going to be very tricky!

Yes you do need the glass to be flush, not hard at all make sure all old silicone and debree is removed. There is no reason to use 1/2" glass, 1/4" will work fine. If the tank is that large which it does not look then use 3 pieces cut to match. This is a very easy, quick and sure way to fix the tank.

Ya 180 is big I did not see your reply where you stated the size. It's your choice you can do the repair in a couple hours or do a total tear down. As long as the original glass is still structurally sound there is no reason to do a total tear down. Just a new layer of glass added.

Oh sorry, thought I posted size in my original post.
Anyways, The other panels of glass are in good shape.
By adding a layer of glass do you just meen laying a new panel over the old?
I'm just not understanding.

My wife and I did our 150 and the only frustrating part was Keeping it flush on the corners.. After we felt it was as good as it gets.. It was a little less stress...

But still it wasn't well... Now we are cool with it :D It's been up for over a month.. Very rewarding ;)
