People move here to escape the crazy taxation in some states and for the weather. Quite frankly, I wish they would stop moving here.Yet people are moving there in droves.

I'm sure they think they are doing what is best. My experience and observation with gov't intervention is they usually succeed in only making things worse.Thank you for this. I'll read up. I hear about such things every now and then over many years. The government officials are persistent, it seems, and sooner or later they hope to succeed. They will keep making new such propositions after each failed one. I don't think petitions would stop them. Maybe "occupy FWC" by thousands of freedom-deprived and job-deprived people might. Or maybe there is no other way to try to preserve what's left of FL native nature?
I know their actions may look strange on the outside but I doubt they are always in the wrong, perhaps sometimes, or might be even often, but can't be always...
For those who have not seen this...We got a whitelist here and its s**t. Blacklists are best imo. Keep the nasties out but allow you to keep stuff. Bichirs are legal to own here but not whitelisted so we have a like three species and they're all $$$ I paid $200 bucks for my sen.
Also anyone in FL doing anything bout the holy thursday massacres? I'm a reptile guy at heart and people are talking about it all the way down here. Florida fish and wildlife seem to be in hot water at the moment. Tryna please PETA by doing their bidding to make up for their stuff up.
And many are regretting that move and leaving within a short time.Yet people are moving there in droves.

The states noted for low wages, high property cost and property tax, not to mention insurance and all major storms that get worse each year. Couple that with dealing with tourist. There are several articles discussing the boomerang effect that once ppl live there for a short time the novelty and vacation feel wears off and reality sets in.
I’d rather four seasons and sane Ppl
Not sure where you are getting your info from but FL is a very affordable state to live in. Property costs are not high through the majority of the state and property taxes are a lot lower than many states. Wages are lower in some areas but so is the cost of living. Hurricanes run in cycles with typically 15-20 years of lower activity and 15-20 years of greater activity. We are currently in the greater activity phase. I used to live in RI back in the early 90's. My property taxes on my home in SW FL which is currently worth $400 K is half that of the taxes I was paying on my RI home that was valued at $130k back in 1993. So 3 decades later I am paying half of what I paid for property taxes in the 90's on a home in RI with a 1/3 of the value. In RI I was also paying a thousand a year in property taxes on 2 vehicles and having state taxes bled from my paycheck. And many are regretting that move and leaving within a short time.
