Flagtail full colors

There are similar species of Semaprochilodus. Some coloration and size variations that we see in the pet trade can be attributed to all of them being sold under the trade name Flagtail. Like many characins there are also variations due to distribution like Arowana718 said. Either grow him out and see if he colors up, or trade him off for 1 that already has colors you like.

Mine coloured up almost straight away but developed the deep red cheeks at about 4inches I guess. At about 6 ish now.

Well, here are some pictures of my flagtail after two years. You can compare now and then (the same fish in the 2nd post). He is about 8" in size now and I like the colors very much.
