Flagtails 0r plecos

Flagtail. Plecos are poop machines. Flagtail poop just mists out. I keep a large flagtail with 6 bichirs. Never bothers them. The key is to have driftwood for the bichirs to hide under.

When I had 4 flagtails all over 7" they could coat my sand with a fine coat of poop. Not quite plecopoop but not exactly clean fishies by any means...

A properly placed power head can direct the poop mist much easier than the long strings of pleco poop. I still think their the better choice over plecos.

Why not just add live plants to the tank or to the sump? Not worry bout algae in the first place. Plecos are pretty but I always have problems when they get bigger. A big pleco is a catfish murderer. Flag tails are sweet looking fish but I'd rather feed them algae wafers and forego the algae growing in the tank.
