myleus rubripinnis. i see some people call them sliver dollers tho but really silver doller only get to 6 inch odd, sorry my spelling and gramer is abit crap never was very good at school in english.you think these might be a problem !.
or will some of these issuse arise when he get to full size .
no one seams up beat at all about adding a gar to a large cichlid communtiy is my idea doomed ?

yes. it is not a good idea. cichlids and gars are a bad combo for young gars and large gars alike. do not attempt it if you wish to properly, and responsibly house a gar.

I kept a juvi Oscar with my first florida gar... once the Oscar started matureing ( ie the red spot started appearing on his back fin, approx 6 months old) He became to aggressive and had to be removed from the tank.... I added another florida with my other... and attempted 2 juvi pike cichlids ( Venizualians i'm 99%) Same thing happened.. once the fish started matureing they became dominant and territorial... ime..imo fish that tend to claim an area or are "unbiased territorial" make bad tank-mates for gar. I had great experiances keeping my gar with a ornate bichir, and a trio of fire eels ( the eels where larger then the gar and had a PVC tube w/ elbows the gar could not get into. as there are pics floating around of gar with smaller spiney eels in their mouths.) my most recent try was with a smaller species of pike ( female proteus ) who did well with my floridas until I added the cuban. She had to be removed immediately as she started hammering at him almost instantly.

hopefully some of this info helps.
