...all you can eat lobster houses...

The only one that I know of is Boston Lobster Feast. If you get there before 6:00pm it is like $24 but after it is around $30.

I have not found anyplace that serves Florida Lobster as a native dish. They are often sold as the tail only because they don't have claws. Slipper Lobsters are just plain ugly and look like a cockroach. They taste awsome though.

MrRngr - yeah?? How much do they charge to put up a tent? Is there electricity / shower there?

pitcher plants are neat! I'd love to see them in the natural habitat. Air plants - as in Spanish Moss, or the bromeliads? Sure, PM me on the ee bulbs - they sound great.
what are the predominant plant species in FL in the forests and such? Or is it over run with tropicals (like fish non natives) too?

We might have to go hiking :) All within walking distance, you can see the pitcher plants with dead bugs still in them, pine forests, oak hammocks, cypress swamps, and dessert looking scrub oaks. Spanish moss and bromeliads are both common in the oak hammocks.

What's wrong with Ocala? That's where I camp.

Oh no, the Ocala rednecks are here :nilly: :nilly: :nilly:

Ok, so I couldn't resist...no more mentions of rednecks. I have camped there too. There is no charge if you camp in the woods. There are plenty of camp grounds with facilities.

Yup he said 25.00 is what he paid :)

Whichever way you look at it, $25 is a good deal on a heap of seafood. Never had southern lobster...

That hike sounds good if I can work it out time-wise. I'd love to see the mangroves too - where would those be? The Glades?

What about gators? Are they everywhere?

What kind of poisonous snakes should I be on the lookout for?

Oooh.. Watch out for snappers while poking your fingers in the water :)

Tongue - forgot about snappers lol - thanks! Are these FL snappers, or Alligator snappers? I hear the Ally snappers are extremely restricted in distribution due to over"fishing" is that true ?

Mangroves are everywhere along the coast in brackish and saltwater bodies of water. If you visit Kennedy Space Center, you can't miss them. KSC is surrounded by them and wildlife preserves. Gators line the ditches there too. Gators can be found in both fresh and brackish waters. There are tons in the Everglades.

Poisonous snakes are hard to find but we have diamond back rattlers, cotton mouths, water moccocins, and pigmy rattlers.
