Oooh.. Watch out for snappers while poking your fingers in the water

I am assuming you are not talking about snappers as the fish. I wish you could catch them just by poking your finger in the water. Turtles aren't that plentiful either.

I had a pet snapping turtle for nine years. He ran away from home during Hurricane Charley.

There's a bunch of parks inside the forest. Most of them are springs. This link should give you some info.

mangroves and gators are the glades lol
and when fishing the banks
the biggest thing you need to worry about is water moccacins
they lay on the banks and they can mess you up.
always look down when walking the edges,and even shuffle your pole or net in higher grass.
