Flower/Tiger "Hardiness"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
take a look in the picture right in front of the flower the tiger is under the sand! my flower is a very active agressive feeding ray and the tiger is very unactive but eats agressive.dont think its a species thing more just based on those rays.

wow look at that boesemani firts time i have seen one wow. i would love it if you could post some more pics of her

chris i will make another thread i dont want to derail this one off topic anymore.
just thought i would scare skynoch "scotty" lol!! and show him the beast i am risking with my flower and tiger.its agressive but tame cause it just gave birth.

One thing i am starting to notice now is that my tiger is tougher and more hardy than my flower.anybody else notice this? Just thought i would bring this old thread up.my flower eats like a savage maniac even crazier than my black rays and more than the tiger.the flower seems more active than the tiger???

I think it depends on the rays them self but i am starting to 100% notice the flowers sensitivity over the tigers, these are just my rays though i would love to hear about others who are doing the flower/ tiger combo

From the few tigers and flowers I've owned I never noticed alot of difference in thier hardiness but more so maybe in the individual ray itself or the situation. My female flower is getting worked over by my male tiger trying to breed and she is getting stressed but to get around this I have to leave shrimp in the tank for an hour so she can get the nerve up to eat her fill without getting in the mix anymore. When the male leaves her alone she is all over the shrimp but just a slow eater.

Hey Scott does the flower or tigers ever grow out of this sensitive stage.my flower is ridiculas after 4 days even the low nitrates bother him.this thing is worse than discus lol! I am wondering if they toughen up a bit like other rays do when they get larger.my tiger isn't so bad it's my flower he drives me nuts.i haven't moved his tank I'n the basement " still changing water manually" once it's I'n the basement i will hook it up to the dripper.but i don't have time for it.i might have to put him I'n the big tank.maybe build a divider

my flower is slowly turning into the most agressive ray i have.its all over the tiger when feeding but i do notice the tiger is getting used to it.i think the flower is toughening up the tiger in that manor! but the flower is still way more sensitive to nitrates and is much larger? i was at first worried about the flower stressing the tiger but i dont see it happening now.
