Different brands don't mean variety, different quality ingredients does. Corn, rice, gluten are fillers then don't contribute much toward nutrition.

I agree, i had a flowerhorn a year ago and i fed it with these "specially formulated flowerhorn foods" claiming that it will enhance my flowerhorn colors and kok like magic. But fh colors and kok depends with genetics hands down. Ime, also i find that these food also make your fh grow faster and make your fh belly get huge. May be because of high amount of protein which is an extra calories and may result with fat deposit to your fh. Which may cause untimely death. The only thing that I may advise is dont over feed. This is the number reason that most beginner fh keeper do i am also a guilty of this. So dont overfeed. As RD "said let your eyes be your guide" in feeding your fish.Definitely don't use them. Just consider it as if you got scammed and trash the food. Hikari Cichlid Bio-gold is great though. You don't have to really feed a huge variety of pellets. One good quality staple will do just fine although if you wanted to add more NLS and Northfin are good to add onto the Hikari. Pellets should be the bulk of their diet. Any food other than pellets should be considered a treat and not to be fed more than 1-2 times a week.
It's not carried in most big chain store's, maybe a LFS will, I ordered all my NLS from Amazon. Normally I got it next day or at most in 2 days.I can't seem to find new life food any where
