Flowerhorn growout

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had an issue with the tank I had a few on months ago. My new flowerhorn died within a few weeks. PERSONALLY I’ve never seen a flowerhorn with so much potential I was mad she died. I had to redo the entire tank.View attachment 1464989View attachment 1464990
Wow that is a gorgeous fish. I’m sorry to hear that it passed. I love the amount of darker coloration on it. The place I got daisy at I saw last week had a flowerhorn that looked almost exactly like that but it’s stomach and face we’re a dark blue but had the same makings as yours

Thank you. I was just kind of shocked she died. I didn’t see any diseases and she ate great. Don’t really know. But I’ve never seen that white of a flowerhorn before.

I haven’t seen one with that much white either. Do you plan on getting another one anytime soon

How can I grow my FH faster? Keep water quality extremely good, high protein and nutrition diet, regular feeding schedule. Is there anything that might help or that I’m missing. Another thing is how can I grow the kok, I think high protein diet helps a bit but not entirely sure but I do know that the main factor in kok size is genetics but does a grooming mirror help any? Anything to do to groom him?

Good water quality: Change water often to replenish minerals, prevent fish from getting sick and boost its appetite. Fish that never got sick will grow to its full potential. This practice has been implemented in discus keeping to maximize its growth and round body shape especially for contest. Do keep in mind that the water need to be aged and aerated first. Water parameter have to be similar from the aquarium.

Tank size: Bigger tank size will make fish grow faster.

Diet: Feed 2 times a day with smaller quantity in between each meals. Observe your fish aggressiveness, once it's less aggressive, stop feeding. The idea is to make your fish to eat on daily basis.

Note: this is just based from my observations.

It be preferred if it was from your own experience. OP has enough on his plate. Don’t make people think you need to have aged and aerated water but for normal care the rest is sound information.

The tap water in my house isn’t contaminated with any chlorine or chloramine so I always fill a 5 gallon bucket and put a bit of bio boost and water conditioner and dump it into the tank slowly. Personally I don’t see a point in aged water I think it’s just a waste of time. The way i do it has always worked good for me and as long as it does work I’m not gonna change it lol

Aged water increase the DO and stabilized the ph. What percentage did you change your water? If it works for you then continue your routine
