I agree, that was freakin' terrible! I hope I never see anything like that again. Apparently this happened very fast. If he actually lost his entier head a day later. Euthenasia was the only humane thing to do. I am very sorry you had to go through that.
No, he is in a 55 gal tank.. The disease progess too fast..it only took 2 weeks and his head was gone.. I even used gloves, plastic and a disposable net to take the fish out of the tank. I believe he got a very scary rare disease. Its my first time to have a fish this kind of disease in my 11 years of experience in fishkeeping.
im sorry for ur loss hun, but like others have said there was nothing u could have done at that stage...was soooo quick too.

I was thinking of a human related disease called "Flesh eating bacteria", but im not sure.. It is caused by streptococcus pyogenes that even antibiotic couldn't kill the toxin produced by the bacteria, destroying the tissue very fast. This infection is so hard to treat, 40% of its victims dont survive.
But I dont know if a human disease could be acquired by a fish...
