Hey everybody. First post here, figured I could get some advice on my flowerhorn. Had had about a month. He is five inches long, and has his own 120 gallon aquarium. I put a black background on his tank yesterday and he has been non stop throwing a tantrum. He wont leave the back of the tank, just keeps swimming across and up and down across the background. He'll attack the heaters and rearrange the sand along the way. As amusing as this was to watch at first, 12 hours later he is still going at it. Will he calm down eventually, or should I remove the background? It really makes the tank look better so I hope I don't have to do that, but I will if I have to. Thanks for the input!

That normal behavior becareful with heater. Mine had a tantrum and broke my heater. I saw him break it thank god no damage. When I add stuff to my tank my FH do the same thing but usually are okay the next few days

Welcome and oh my goodness, your Flowerhorn is absolutely incredible! Love the head and colors on him. He may be seeing his own reflection thinking it's another fish but his behavior is normal and it is very good to keep your fish active.

Ok thank you, hopefully he will settle down in the next few days. I have aqueon pro heaters and they are supposed to be indestructible, hopefully they wont break!

Thank you I appreciate that! That's what I was leaning towards, I just thought since that background is flat black it would minimize him seeing his reflection. Guess not :)

Unfortunately I dont have any juvenile pics of him. He came to me that size a couple weeks ago. I asked the local fish store if they had any flowerhorns coming in, and they said check back in the morning. I went in and he was there! Bought him on the spot.
