Bro,Bio-balls come in plastic with a small filter sponge inside it are you referring this type of bio-balls,I think more than two variety is there, iam already using sum 8 Ceramic ring, kept inside filter, any suggestions

And one more issue I am facing is about my glass pebbles, before starting the aquarium,I thought as FH digs around gravels, planned to put big pebbles to avoid FH accidentally ingesting some so I put pebbles which won't fit in its mouth.now its seeing his own reflection on the stones and hitting it..What about fine gravel is it safe..

Fish have it in their blood and instinct not to swallow it whole. They spit it back out and that's how a lot of fish in the wild actually make pits and breed.

Fine, small, medium, large gravel is fine. I use sand so trust me that's the finest particles you can use. They put it in their mouths move stuff around and their completely fine. I wouldn't put anything sharp for their gravel though...

Good luck!

I guess You are referring to K1 media. if u see some Small plastic balls in filter, that can be bio-balls, but anyway is good...
Pebbles are good fo fh,as far as it plays with it, some FH loves to dig, some eventually gets it after acclimates in new tank! But if u want to change them to gravel, the lighter color gravel is good for FH lighter color, and darker is for dark one. I have put small refined white gravel to let him play and he loves it!!

Agree, white Sand, I would love to put in aquarium, it really looks like desert or snow! Whatever u see!! But it may required daily maintenance as FH poops red dark and u imagine on white, Mine is white gravel and very small pieces of stones but have to take care almost everyday!!!

Thanks bro, like I was not in town for past three days, before leaving I added 1tsp Rock salt in the tank, today when I came back FH was very dark almost black body and deep red..I replaced 25% water with fresh tap water..and now colour has lightened..Is it becoz of salt? And regarding water changes many recommend 25% to 45% weekly once.My problem is my tap water is very hard contains lots of minerals..sediments like calcium, after 3-5 days it becomes clear,No cloudiness..Each time my filter is full of sediments..Can I change water once in a month? What do you think?

If u feel FH does not comfortable with salt, It would be u to take decision whether to stop or not, Because u can see ur fish better than anyone, So act accordingly what he likes ;-)

Also, if this is complete new tank, it can be new tank syndrom where u have good becteria bloom in ur tank when u setup it up, or the tank is just cycled correctly, the water will be clouded, type new tank syndrome and u will know what I meant to say!

It all depends on bio load to how big the tank is. Since your water quality is not good in your area I would do the water changes as needed basis. 2 or 3 times a month should be fine depending on bio load and how big the tank is. I have a 200 gallon tank so I do mine twice a month at 50-60 percent WC.

The best is to use a water purifier for you. You might find this somewhere in India. My father uses this on his salt water tank. He runs a drip system so he never does water changes.
