Flowerhorn white/clear poop week three

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its not stringy white poop. Its more rubbery and clear. It falls to the bottom of the tank. It does not hang. I've been adding more and more Epsom salt and Metro to his force fed food, but, as I stated, its been a month total. I'm open to other options. I purchased a large ammount of Metrodonizole( misspelled?) Is this not the best at killing parasites? I do also have a pipette. Ill additionally dose him in that manner. It couldn't hurt..

I was reading this thread and it's possibile we (I) missed the boat here. Have you tried anything containing Prazi? From the original post I had suggested trying Kanamycin as a cure for an internal bacterial infection, this in combination with Metro is a very effective cure for this. However it looks to me like it is not bacterial after treatment for seven days. Without a picture to conferme this It could be a tape worm type condition where Praziquantel (Prazipro) might be needed, as suggested above Levamisol is also effective for this but is diffacult to find another effective drug is Fenbendazole found in canine dewormers (Safe-guard) sold at PetsMart etc.

My suggestion would be to stop treating. Do a 50% water change. Wate 2 days and start treating with Praziquantel it is the most mild of the three drugs suggested and the easiest to use. See if it helps. If it doesn't we will go foward with one of the other two. Praziquantel is fornd in Prazipro or Api General Cure, either one can be used here. Let us no how this works.

Will do and thanks.

Did a 50% water change late last night. I haven't seen any poo at all in two days now and that is unusual. Also, the fish seems more active. (Still syringe feeding with a soft plastic tube pellets soaked in Epsom salt with Metro.)

Found a big bottle of Prazipro. I'm going to do a 50-60% water change and treat as per directions today.

If it's a tape worm the Prazi will get. Let me know how you make out. I would stop feeding and using the epsome salt, just let the Prazi do it's thing for a few days and see what happens.

OK. Will do. Thanks

Today is day four of five of the Prazipro treated water. Also three days since I've fed him. (I drop two large pellets in the tank daily...He ignores them still.) I'm going to do a 50% water change Thursady. Should I retreat? Replace the carbon in my twin Fluval 303s? I've seen small amounts of the white poo on the bottom of the tank. He's still alert and swimming around. Would he pass a tape worm or absorb it? He's a big, tough fish.

If you were running carbon while treating with prazi, you weren't treating. The carbon adsorbed the meds. Remove the carbon, do a water change and re-treat. Good luck man.
