Flowerhorn x Blood Parrot fry

How many shortbody or bonsais you got out of your batch? I crossed a female parrot and a male bonsai and i probably got 100+ fry right now and i only see a couple of shortbody looking ones.
I have a thread which i will update as often as i can but i need some advice.
1) which ones should i cull
2) what should i do with so many fish ( only space to keep 1 or 2)
3) how to pick the best ones out of the bunch

How big are they? As they get older they'll start to take shape. Here are answers to your questions through my experience. I'm sure others have done different.
1) Cull any showing signs of being deformed. (Gill wrap, bent fins, etc...), lack of pearling. You'll likely do multiple culls as they get bigger. If you have any predator fish the culls make for good treats. Plus you know where they came from and not risking lfs feeders.
2) See if anyone locally would be interested in some...community, lfs, etc...
3) At about an inch or maybe a little less you'll start noticing which ones are going to be pearly or not. Keep the ones showing the most promise with the pearling. If you happen to get any that have a parrot shape and pearls, those are hot items. Not so much short body but the soft parrot shape with the goofy mouth and head. The lighting in my breeding room drowns out a lot so I use an LED flashlight to detect the pearls.
**Don't fall in love with all of them...lol. The less you have the easier life will be.

I have been culling a lot from this batch and i am still on the look out for the pearly ones...the thing is that i cannot know for sure there will late bloomers..i got only 2 or 3 that have not parrot face but duck face lol..white eyed duck face lol
I dont see any parrot shaped with pearls yet and yes i fell in love with all of them lol...i will use your advice and still cull some more...negociations still on with the wifey...
Good parrot shapes are hard to come by. I thought I finally scored one breeding original red texas with parrot mom, but as it got a little bigger the puffy face changed into a beak. Id didn't have pearls but would have been my first so I was keeping him. Bummer for me, score for one of my jags.
It is getting really hard to tell the good ones from the ugly ones coz they all look unique and beautiful
