It's based on simple scientific principles, if you want to believe otherwise that's fine by me. There is nothing that can be supplied via the diet that will only target the melanophore cells in a fish, at least not without affecting the entire fish as well.
I think that some people see what they want to see. The obvious solution in this case is to change the environment that the fish is currently in, the OP will see a night & day difference in how their fish looks.
Keep in mind that FH are basically just hybridized CA cichlids, this principle works for all CA species, including those that have been used to create FH, and no one has ever needed to change their fishes diet in order to get the results that I stated. People (including myself) have been keeping CA cichlids long before FH came on to the fishkeeping scene.
