Fluval 405 vs. Rena XP4

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If u get xp4 , u may as we get fx5, much better . Reins are
really awrkward for cleaning. So get 405

What is ackward about cleaning a rena xp compared to cleaning a fluval 405?

Get the XP3 instead of the xp4, the xp4 is not worth the extra coin.

The xp3 doesn't have that problem because for the xp4 they didn't change the motor on it. And I don't see how any Rena XP series is more difficult to clean than the fluval 405. If anything it's the other way around. If you had to choose between the two, just downsize on the rena and get the XP3. More worth it and are a lot easier to clean than the fluvals are for the most part.

Rena XP4 has 450 gph vs Fluval 405 has 340 gph. Who will win? I will pick Rena. I have an xp3, no problems with leaking or cleaning.

I HATE RENA FILTERS OVER FLUVAL

why because sometimes the rena take so long to kick back into flow, at least fluval has a hand primer on the pump. Though I would for sure go big fluval fx5 all the way over the others .

In my opinion RENA all day!!!

My first tank ever had a xp1 on it(56g) and it keep the water crispy and was very easy to clean. Once I up graded to a 90g I brought another xp1, with both of them on the 90g it also kept the water crispy but I also felt that I had to do more filter(s) cleaning. So once I brought a 55g I took the 2 xp1's and put them on it, keeps it SUPER crispy. Now my 90 is ran by one fx5 and I don't have any complates except the one time the motor was stalling(carbon had come out of the bag).

Now comparing the two companys. I'll say the fx5 is one hell of a filter but Rena's are easier to clean and are also very good filters!!

There's a reason why theres a cap on the intake, you need to keep the valve closed and fill up the intake tube with water, then you'll have no problems. And if your saying it's weak, check the order on your media.

I've seen a lot of bad reviews for the xP4 due to the fact that I heard they didn't upgrade the impella. So it's more likely to break under constant stress. Unless they fixed the problem (which I haven't heard of), I'd go with a Fluval.
