Fluval E Series Heater question..........

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you can buy a digital thermometer for like 10 bucks and a jager 300w for 29.99 still putting the cost less than an e series that dont really ever get to the desired high end of where you set them. set it at 79 it will likely only ever get to 78, more likely being 77.
i am thoroughly dissapointed with mine regardless of how cool it looks

it will get to the desired temperature but you need a stronger heater with the E series than normal heaters... i think the plastic shroud prevents it from heating the water efficiently unless you have large waterflow going past it.

I have two now and they work perfectly and look pretty sweet

My LFS made a mistake when they first got these in and i got a 300W for like 26 bucks. I would buy another at full price though. Im really happy with it. Its probably like a normal 150w but it works good for what i use it for.

Have you tried the heater to see if its working i say this as last week i had to take 2x e300 back to HAGEN here in the uk the thermometers were working ok but no heat from the heater tube. they gave me a like for like swap as they have a 5year gtee

I used mine for about a month before I threw it away. Those things are useless, IME. Shouldn't need 600 watts of heater for a 150 gal. I use 2 150 watt jagers in my sump to heat my 180.

wow thats awesome. id buy them for 26 but i paid 50. Couldnt keep a 106 past 75, granted the house got in the low 60s at the time...but the jager 200w i replaced it with held it just fine at 78:WHOA:
just a lot of expensive gimmick unfortunately (in my eyes).
