damn it another thread loving the fx-5 lol. i think im gunna have to give one a try, they are looking good!

if you read what i had typed you would have a idea of what it was dealing with..
PLEASE READ THE ORIGANAL POST:thumbsup:

I did. Which is why I asked for more info. You didn't mention any tank-specs other than your plecos, and I was curious about your set-up.

No reason to use caps ... :)

Holy crap Plecos chit alot !! thats a dirty filter...

as for the Fx5, well all i can say my work is done :clap

The majority of the waist on the filter is driftwood shaveings. i could smell it. and i only have 1 wood eating pleco, the flash L204 :D

Hi Joefish,

Don't rule out your L25 and L273 eating some wood. Although they are not in the Panaque family I've found that even the Pseudacanthicus eat some wood. I use to have L114 in a tank by themselves with a lot of driftwood and they would eat the wood, evident in the filters.

I cleaned out mine yesterday. Some of the smaller pieces of biological media I have had got lodged into the impeller so i had to poke them back out. so that's my only gripe. On the other hand - if i had used a larger medium nothing would have dropped down into the impeller well.

So make sure when you give your FX5 a clean, take off the pump and check the impeller.
Oh, and also use large media which can't fall through the basket holes.:duh:

Other than that, I am really pleased with the filter and will be getting more in the future.

:D Thats why i use Bio-maxx rings as they are large in size and allow for nice water movement. and at the same time giveing you the bio you need but not causeing problems with your impeller

Yeah, I use eheim media mostly. Now I need to either put a sponge in the bottom of the bottom basket or change slowly to bio max. I think I'll go with the sponge.
