I am running both of these filters in conjunction on a 240. I have the ocean clear model that has massive amounts of the course sponge type material followed by the poly bead filter. I am using a mag drive 14 I believe. In my set up the ocean clear does a much better job than the FX5.

I vote OC. That is what i use on my 180 wtih a turbo sea pump. i think i have the 354 model. ANother great thing about the ocean clears is that if you want to clean the filter or do a water change all you have to do is hook a hose up the the canister and back flush it, works VERY well and VERY easy. You can also hook a couple diffrent OC models up together to get a clean tank. When you get a pump, make sure its a pressure pump! that is what you need for the OC canisters

the pvc on the sides are my IN, and the one in the middle is my out.

i mounted the pump and canister on a peice of plywood with rubber inbetween to cut down on the sound.

hope this was helpful

Zepplin, THAT LOOKS GREAT!... I did not consider two intakes and a centered return. Thanks much for the quick reply. Sorry to leave you hanging but I was at work..and they actually make me work there!. Thanks again

Yes Zepplin, your picture is of a 354 poly bead filter. I have 2 of them. Fantastic filters!
