i bought it second hand but he said it was very quiet in his living room but was moving so had to let it go. everything seemed in place when i took it apart and put it back together but it still seems just as loud.
i tried to listen carefully to the video, i think it may be sucking air. double check your intake hose and connections. i never had a problem like that with my FX5's but the 405 hoses are very temperamental.
That is something with the impeller. Either something is jammed in there, or it is not properly seated with the motor. I would suggest taking it apart, and going through the manual and making sure that everything is cleaned and PROPERLY put back together.
I've had a FX5 for two years straight now, and I have never experienced any problems with it. Except when the kids knocked off the piece on the return unit, and air got sucked in from the water level being a bit low and air bubbles being created in the tank. But after I put the piece back on, and filled my tank back to the level it should be, all that disappeared. So with that, the filter will work like a champ, it is our own doing that will cause them to start acting weird.
I would check the impeller for damage or looseness, missing parts, although it sounds like it could just be warn out. Unfortunately a new impeller assembly is about $50
no sure whats wrong with my filter still, its not as loud but its STILL weak, it was strong the day i got it but after that for some reason it has been weak (2-3 months ago) and im not sure why? any body have any suggestions again? thanks.
