Fluval FX5 trapped air/microbubbles

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Take off motor assembly, check impeller and clean. It can be a combination of media too, make sure the baskets have plenty of space to lock in.

If all else fails try taking all the media out and see if u still have bubbles then just re arrange. Make sure that little tiny tube on the lid isn't clogged that's what auto purges it every 24 hours

CONGRATULATIONS TO SAMEER3600 FOR WINNING "FISH OF THE YEAR!"

just to double check: you don't have any polishing pads, filter bags, or carbon in the filter? It sounds like the media is clogging up and trapping bubbles (happened to me until F1 straightened me out ;) )

All 3 trays with Seachem Matrix. Sponges that came with the filter on the sides.

I'll open the filter this weekend to look further into..

powerhead .....put it up to filter intake.... turn on ....start filter ....air gone ...i promise:)

air escapes after turning the filter on/off and letting it prime again, but after a 2-3 hours it has air again.

so powerhead would help as much as turning it on and off :(

So I took it apart, put all my media in woman's socks, apply vaseline to all the gaskets and add some pipe tape onto the hose connections. Fixed my microbubble problem.

Is it Okay to have media in these type of socks? Any cons of doing that?

Good job getting rid if the bubbles. The womens socks will be fine temporarily but they'll break apart easily. Order some mesh bags on amazon and you'll be set
