Fluval FX5 trapped air/microbubbles

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i use these for my media. double wrapped them, so far so good and still in tact. they go for like 99 cents at walmart. kinda felt odd paying for these at the cash register ;p

Microbubbles came back :(

I heard about the new modified lid for the FX5. Does anyone know what Fluval upgrade in it? Could I do it by myself??

Love the flow of this filter, but if I knew id get microbubbles, I would gladly pay more and get the worshiped Eheim :(

try the powerhead method ...it should help....

Okay so I again think I fixed the microbubbles..

It was the sponge on the intake.

Since I am growing fry, I have to have it because they would get sucked in..

Yesterday I noticed that flow was gone and the sponge was sqweezed by the intake.. So I removed it and putted it a new, more fine sponge..

And guess what. This morning I wake up, no microbubbles. So the main cause of microbubbles actually is a simply clogged filter..

Hope this helps for someone, will let you know if they come back..

Yes....a sponge on the intake will for sure cause the problem and after reading this thread was just about to ask if you had a sponge on the intake. Don't run any kind of prefilter over the intake tube. It can't have any restrictions. The pump is very strong. You can burn up the pump and it is VERY expensive. If you are still running it I would remove the sponge and move the fry to a tank without such a high powered filter especially.
