Fluval fx5

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm with most people i love mine also, i did have a motor/impeller unit go out but i sent it back to Hagen and they sent me a new one no questions asked...

Well, I know I'll be told it's too small for what I wanna put in it, but it will give me ample time to build my pond. :D

1 Clown Knife
1 Gold Clown Knife (if they fight, the gold one stays! lol)
2 Oscars
2 sm/md plecos
2 syno cats
and maybe looking into an arowana, if I find one that looks good enough and hits the flake at the top of the tank in the lfs ;)

Any other suggestions? Stocking suggestions are welcome too. The fish I listed I already have in my grow out tanks, but none of those tanks are over 55gal. So I MUST get this tank set up. :)

Sorry, need to make an amendment on tank size. :screwy:

it's 280 gallons.

72x30x30 :D

Was thinking 2 would be sufficient. Can never have too much filtration :hearts:

That's a nice tank. Is it not drilled?

On my 253 I have a 55 gallon wet/dry sump and 2 Fluval FX-5's and no issue's with FX-5 filters whatsoever but you should consider a wet dry if possible.

i have a great fx5.....hehe,,,,,i love it,,,,,,BUT it stands tall so make sure you have enough space,,,,i had to cut up my cuboard

two fx5's should be more than sufficient for what your looking for. I'm not really a fan of W/D due to the noise and space involved. Also depending on your living situation i.e apt, renting, noise, W/D are not always a viable solution. I'm actually plumbing my new tanks overflow to run with my Fx5. To compensate for the main benefit of what a W/D would accomplish, get a fluidized bed filter and you'll really bump up the bacteria %.
