Fluval fx5

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've one on my 100G (not as big as some of the beats on this site) and so far have no complaints. Cleaned it out for the first time after 4 months without any hiccups. Its quiet too. Have noticed it does lose it flow a bit in time though

So a fluidized bed would take care of the bacteria that I would get with a w/d? Was thinking that, didn't think the canister would hold enough biological filtration for that kind of tank. Fluidized bed it is also.

Another question, anyone have a uv sterilizer hooked up with one of these? Any pointers on those? Brand, size, hookup advice?

im not going to go off on 1 again :D

if you want a filter thats going to give you 10yrs+ good service buy an eheim

the FX5 maybe a good filter but fluvals track record is not great and i just cant see it lasting longer than say 5yrs

if you have the extra money buy the eheim 2080 its just a much beter filter IMO

Eheim 2080? I'll look into that. I was thinkin eheim at first, I have a pro 2 on my 55 with NO problems.

Still looking for advice on a good UV.

I have 2 fx5s on my 125 (and a wet/dry) and they work well. Fill up the cannister with ceramic or with pot scrubbers or both. I second JOHNPTC's suggestion that you get 3, especially with that stock list.

If you have the money, get an eheim 2260 or 2262.
