Running a sump I was looking to add some extra mech to my system. I have a bare bottom 180 gallon that collects quite a pit of waste in a short time. The sump never really got all of it even with power heads pushing it around. So I purchased one of these "Ultimate" filters lol. Any way I set it up last night as directed. The intake is right down to the bottom of the tank. I see it flowing great through the outputs but this thing cant even suck in debris 2 inches away. There is literally poop sitting below the intake maybe an inch away and it cant even get sucked up. I have a lot of current in my tank now and I would have expected it to be clear of particles 24 hours later but its still pretty dirty. I would have thought this thing would work a lot better. all fittings are tight & no air is in the system. My intake line has no loops and is literally straight down to the canister. Is this just expected with these things? Or is there a better way to give it more suction. Is the giant intake creating the problem of weak suction? Any ideas on how to improve it or should I just send the damn thing back.
