As already owning 2 FX5s I think I am good for a while with filters, Nice to see a few little updates but the knobs to set when you cleaned the filter is just a little stupid in my opinion. Red VS Orange, ahh, its just color. But I really like Orange. Always nice to see less power being used though. I still wish they would make it even more powerful though, LOL

It seems like all they did with the fx6 was to change the top lid design to make it look more fancy and reduce the power consumption by 10%. The fx5 only uses 50 watts so that's only a difference of 5 watts.

I don't think they improved on what mattets the most though. They should've increased the capacity of the bio -- maybe an extra couple liters of room for bio would've been great. And they should've increased the power of the pump but its the same as the old fx5. It doesn't seem like its worth it to buy the fx6.

I think its handy To right down everytime u do water tests or when you get new fish to watch the growth rate of them.

The only way to compare an FX5 to an FX6 is to hook them up to the same tank then test the water. If the perams are good the FX6 is better.. FACT

Only if you don't care about particulate waste. A true measure would be to also weigh the waste trapped along with comparing params.
