They look to still be made of plastic. The white cylinder underneath are known for breaking.

They are a pain to get lined up and then tighten. So they are easy to break. I have almost broke one this way 4 times now. They always spin or fall out.

Can't wait for the Fluval FXX, then we will have a name issue with Ferrari, lol.

Those new clamps look worse than the old ones imo. They look smaller and thinner than the old ones.

IMO that sounds retarted honestly, fluval is a good company and certainly knows its customers complaints, do you really think they would make it MORE prone to break rather than just leave it or try to improve it? Your just looking for something to pick out about it it seems to try and make it seem inferior in your head. i'm not saying its better because idk but i'm certain its not worse. i'm sure a company like fluval with a product as popular as their large canisters isn't making them worse

Hey Austin. If you can look at the lid fastener from underneath, or even take it apart, and see it they still just use a hex head bolt in the assembly. If they do then nothing has changed.

agree hope fx5 gets cheaper... you can get a 405 new on ebay now for like 100 bucks wouldnt mind seeing 50-60 bucks off the fx5s!

This is what I found disappointing at first glance. I like my FX5, had it working for nearly 6 years now but found the fasteners don't last and here in the UK they're not cheapest to replace. I would've thought they'd have changed the design.
I see lots of moaning that it looks the same on appearance as the FX5. Well I also own an Eheim and most of these look the same too
