Fluval Fx6?!?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Seems very similar to the fx5. Why redesign a new filter that will basically compete with your 'flag ship' model.

Will they be discontinuing the FX5? Cause if the fx5 drops in price...well they're a bargain ready.

I agree they should of made it more powerful and bigger capacity....

Hey Austin. If you can look at the lid fastener from underneath, or even take it apart, and see it they still just use a hex head bolt in the assembly. If they do then nothing has changed.

Because i'm new to this canister type and want to check everything out I think ill make a video of me taking it apart so everyone can see the entire thing inside out. Of course I talked so much at the show that I don't have much of a voice left lol ill post the video on here later prob early afternoon. Planning on setting up the new tank so duff before that happens

Like I said before I get deleted again, witch that needs to stop! With any attempt to fix there is a chance for defect.

Yup. just marketing certain people will see it and instantly buy one / sell there old one. look @ apple.

The knobs on top are pretty crap imo. If you cant remember your maintenance for tanks/filters you shouldn't have them...

I currently run 2 FX5's and my only problem has been those **&*^*@ little orange plastic clips at the base of the head bolts.
It would make more sense to keep/buy an FX5 and a 3d printer rather than outlay money for the "upgraded" FX6.

I mean really, dials?

I don't think they improved on what mattets the most though. They should've increased the capacity of the bio -- maybe an extra couple liters of room for bio would've been great. And they should've increased the power of the pump but its the same as the old fx5. It doesn't seem like its worth it to buy the fx6.

+1 .... they should have given more room for media to beat the ehiem to get more ppl wanting to buy it, and yes more flow would be ideal ya can never have to much turnover IMO, and the only thing i think they need to REALLY are them damn plastic orange "t" peice fastners tht ALWAYS break i ended up making my own outta some stainless steel tube works perfect but still ....

Looks to me with fluvals history, ei the 403, 404, then 405 now 406 along with their 306 and 206 series filters, that the FX6 is to replace the FX5. Not compete with it. So it makes since that they have really no performance upgrades.

Looking forward to that video Austin.
