FLUVAL G

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh my!! Reading the description made me laugh. The"self priming" feature - hell, my weed wacker has a button that only needs a few pumps to prime. The"aquastop" -it's just a valve. Chrome lever, microprocessor, silicone gasket, big deal. Lots of hype in , I must say , a nice package. Underneath though -what are you really getting?

i mean who cares that its super automatic
i till prefer 2 fx5s
Wow pretty harsh. Do you have one? There maybe more to it then gph and shiny bits, therotically less gph is fine if the filtration is effective enough. It could be argued that less GPH is better from a power consumption stand point, if the filtration is effective. My point being look past the price and gph and lets see what it can do before we all say it sucks. Price will come down in time.

Neat .. But not in my price range.

And this does what different?

Fluval G: mechanical filtration, yes / Other filters: mechanical filtration, yes
Fluval G: chemical filtration, yes / Other filters: chemical filtration, yes
Fluval G: monitors temperature, yes / Other filters: yes and no / Cheap, stick-on-glass thermometer: yes
Fluval G: good flow rate, arguable / Other filters: arguable
Fluval G: shiny and pretty / Other filters: all in the eye of the beholder
Fluval G: lots of shiny and electronic **** to break, yes / other filters: not so much
Fluval G: costs a lot, yes / Other filters: yes and no, depending on what you buy

So, what's different? To me, nothing except that you're buying a overpriced canister filter that is being intended for its aesthetic value, versus its performance. I've always loved fluval products, but I would never waste the money on this.

for that sort of money you could have 2 fx5's or a sump with high quality equipment with great flow rates or pond canisters attatched to powerful pumps to create a monster canister system.

too much money for one IMO. its only good selling point is its looks, it would look amazing on a black glass stand next to a tank or on a shelf underneath it. for that sort of money and all the other gizmos in there you would expect a built in heater at least.
it may have lots of equipment to monitor water conditions but i would still have a highly reliable glass thermometer that is unlikely to break and i would still test my water with a kit every week or two.

Overpriced.
